DNA Structure

Elements | Molecular Structure | Backbone | Base Pairs

The unique structure of DNA can be compared to a twisted ladder made up of two alpha helices bound together by nitrogenous base pairs (adenine - thymine, and cytosine - guanine). The order or pattern of these base pairs is the source of the genetic code.
